We’re Alive

Kara and I are still alive.  We just have no reason to keep a website going.  We’re busy.  She’s teaching.  I’m teaching.  She’s being an awesome Mom.  I’m being an average Dad.

The only reason I’m updating now is because my niece asked us for help with WordPress, because apparently having 4 posts to a WordPress site makes one an expert.   Anyway, we offered our limited knowledge.

Check her out at Soldiering Sister!

October!

It’s October!  Who doesn’t love fall in Michigan?  The leaves are slowly turning to lovely shades of orange, yellow, and red.  The temperature is dropping into comfy sweatshirt range.  Homemade applesauce fills the house with the smell of cinnamon.  The smell of the fire mixed fills the air outside.  Comfort food like baked mac and cheese starts becoming acceptable again.  The hot chocolate starts brewing in the evenings.  The local doughnut joint starts selling apple cider doughnuts.  I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite season.  How anybody can live elsewhere is beyond me.

The Pendragon Cycle

This summer, I (Tim) thought I’d reread the Pendragon Cycle by Stephen Lawhead.  I should mention that I read most of it in the bathroom.  It’s the only place I can really escape my kids!  I first read it in high school (middle school?) and re-read it every few years.  It’s an amazing piece of work for those who are looking for Christian fantasy. It blends the Authurian legend with the Atlantian legend, blending in Celtic Christianity and placing it all in an historical setting.  It begins with the story of Taliesin, the father of Merlin who first dreams of the Kingdom of Summer (KoS), then transitions to Merlin who prepares Britain for the KoS, and then finally finishes with the story of King Arthur who rules of the KoS.

It began as a trilogy (Taliesin, Merlin, Arthur), but due to the overwhelming popularity of it, Lawhead decided to expand the Arthur legend and introduced two more books.  Despite reading the original trilogy half a dozen times, I’ve never read the extra two.  Someday I will.

Don’t be distracted by the fact that the books were published in the 80’s.  It’s been republished since then and historical fiction is always timeless.  As one small word of caution, the author has a love of all things Welsh.  As such many of the people and places are names slightly different (e.g. Caledvwlch instead of Excalibur).  However, if you love Tolkien and Lewis, give it a try.  I promise you won’t regret it.

Scripture Memory

For those interested in a Scripture memory system, I would highly recommend memverse.com.  It’s a great site that makes memorizing a snap.  It has a memory algorithm designed to help you review your verses when you need to review them.  As you get better at a verse, your recall interval increases.  As you get worse, the interval shrinks.

From typing in complete verses, to fill in the blanks, to reference recall exercises, memverse has it all.

Strongly recommended for those wanting to internalize God’s word!

Happy Fourth

Welcome to the new TKWegner.com.  Great new changes coming soon!

We’ve switched from the old HTML site to a new and improved WordPress site.  We’re hoping this will encourage us to post more.  I highly doubt it, but it’s possible.  In the mean time, I pray you all enjoyed your fourth!
